The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has directed Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation to summon Litro Gas Lanka Limited and Litro Gas Terminal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd to conduct a government audit.

It has been revealed that Litro Gas Lanka Limited and Litro Gas Terminal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd have gone before court stating that they cannot be audited by the government, in terms of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

Chairman of the COPE Charitha Herath has reportedly told that it is inappropriate to discussabout these institutions. Since the two institutions could not be summoned before the COPE.

However, the members of the COPE insisted that these institutions should be audited by the Government as Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation owns a bigger stake of 99% of the shares ofthese two institutions.

Therefore, the committee stressed that these institutions should be summoned before the COPE. Accordingly, the Committee directed Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation to expedite the summoning of Litro Gas Lanka Limited and Litro Gas Terminal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. before the Committee.
