The Court of Appeal today (29) conducted a digital virtual hearing of cases via the Zoom platform as a precautionary measure against the COVID19 pandemic.
Accordingly, the Court of Appeal took up via zoom programme, court cases originally fixed for 3rd May, to re-fix them.
Lawyers appeared via zoom while adhering to the Rules made for digital hearing. Lawyers, appearing, required to wear court attire. The Court heard cases in two sessions, at 10 a.m. and 12 noon on several platforms. The expectation is eventually to clear the backlog of the last six weeks.
After evaluating the effectiveness and the feasibility of the virtual proceedings, on the 29th June 2021, the cases fixed from 4th May to 25th June 2021 will also be taken up for hearing. The dates for such digital hearing will also be published in due course, the Court of Appeal announced.
