Culture of impunity?

  Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today twitted that a journalist has been abducted, assaulted and threatened to resemble the pre-2015 era. He states that the journalist has been abducted on the 10th and laments for lack of solidarity in the media industry to stand up for the victimized fellow journalist. Meanwhile, SJB Parliamentarian Harsha De Silva in another message states, “What we hear is that “Siyarata” web journalist Sujeewa Gamage was gagged, hooded, thrown into a black van and tortured for info on his sources and political contacts, before being dumped on a street corner. Harsha de Silva is posing the question of whether the government going to let the abductions start again.
