Doctor and Nurse transferred for vaccinating underage schoolgirl
August 27, 2021

The Regional Director of Health Services Puttalam has immediately transferred the Medical practitioner and the Public Health Nurse who conducted the vaccination programme at the Kokkavil primary school to the Covid treatment unit of the Puttalam base hospital.
Both health care officials are facing charges for allegedly administering the Pfizer vaccine to a twelve-year-old schoolgirl without prior authorization. The girl happened to be the daughter of the Medical Officer concerned.
There was unrest among the people gathered at the primary school to get their vaccine when they observed several people coming into the vaccination centre through another entrance. People started raising their voices and expressing concern over the matter that eventually went up to the Regional Director of Health Services, Puttalam.
The Regional director has promptly effected the transfer of both the medical Officer and the Nurse pending an inquiry.
