Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake and a Kazakh woman were indicted before the Colombo High Court on Thursday over the alleged possession of a gold-plated firearm without a licence.

The Attorney General has charged the two defendants with possessing the firearm and aiding and abetting its possession at the Havelock City apartment complex in Wellawatte on 20 May 2025.

The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga, who ordered the defendants’ release on cash bail of Rs. 50,000 each and two sureties of Rs. 2 million each after the indictments were served in open court.

The judge also ordered the authorities to obtain the defendants’ fingerprints and submit a report.

The court scheduled the pre-trial conference for 2 October.
