Professor Neelika Malavige of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, has recently scrutinized the efficacy of the vaccines used within the country, based on a report published by a group of medical researchers in Bahrain.
According to the report, the efficacy rate of the Sinopharm vaccine indicates a death rate of 0.46%, while the Pfizer Bio N tech represents a death rate of 0.15 %and, the AstraZeneca indicates a death rate of 0.03%
Out of 100,000 people vaccinated with the Sinopharm vaccine, only 350 people are vulnerable to get infected and presumably, one fatality is expected, while those vaccinated with Pfizer, only 136 people are at risk of contracting the virus, out of which only one fatality, can be expected.
