Entering Rupavahini premises forcibly, the case against Mervyn Silva was fixed for November 7

The magisterial inquiry against former Minister Mervyn Silva over an incident that took place at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) in 2007 was today fixed for November 7 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
Mervyn Silva was present before the court as a suspect, and the CID conducting investigations into this incident informed the court that they are conducting further investigations into the incident.
On August 17, 2022, the CID arrested the former Minister and subsequently produced him before the Court upon the Attorney General's advice over an investigation into an incident that took place at SLRC in 2007. He was arrested for allegedly forcibly entering SLRC premises in 2007. He is currently out on bail.
