Eric Meyer sworn in as new U.S. ambassador to Sri Lanka

Eric Meyer has been sworn in as the new U.S. ambassador to Sri Lanka, the U.S. Embassy in Colombo said.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau officiated at the swearing-in ceremony, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.

Meyer is a career Senior Foreign Service officer with extensive experience in South and Central Asian affairs. Before his appointment as ambassador, he served as senior bureau official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.

The U.S. Embassy welcomed Meyer and said it looked forward to working under his leadership to further strengthen relations between the United States and Sri Lanka.

His tenure is expected to focus on deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing shared priorities, including economic ties, regional security, governance and development.
