Five killed in Katuwana factory fire

Five people have died in a fire at a factory in the Katuwana Industrial Estate in Homagama, police said on Tuesday.

Firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control, while rescue teams continue searching for people who may be trapped inside the building.

The fire broke out on Tuesday morning when more than 80 employees were reportedly at the factory. Authorities are checking whether any workers remain trapped.

Homagama Police said the fire occurred at a factory that manufactures safety helmets.
