The government last night increased fuel prices by a substantial amount since the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation was incurring a huge cost to import petroleum products and is unable to maintain the current prices.
Accordingly, Lanka Petrol 92 Octane is priced at Rs157 per litre, an increase of Rs20, while Lanka Petrol 95 Octane Euro is now Rs 184 with an increase of Rs 23. Diesel price increased by Rs 7and will cost Rs 111 a litre, and Super Diesel increased by Rs 12  and will cost Rs 144 per litre now. A kerosine Litre increased by Rs 7 will cost the consumer Rs 77 per litre.
