Gampaha section of Central Expressway halted temporarily

Construction of the section of the Central Expressway which is in the Gampaha district has been halted temporarily.   Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga said construction was stopped to review future construction plans with a view to amending them if it is required. He said they will be soliciting public opinion and expert advice from irrigation engineers during this process.  A final decision on the way forward is expected in the next two weeks.   Residents were seen criticizing the government after their areas got flooded from the recent rains.  They attribute the floods to the Expressway’s construction work.
