GMOA opposes Kotalawala Defence University Act
July 09, 2021
The Government Medical Officers Association has vehemently opposed the proposed Parliamentary Act on General Sir John Kotalawala National Defence University.
The Association points out that the proposed Act of Parliament undermines the role of the University Grants Commission, other professional bodies such as the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
It further states that setting up a government body comprising Military Personnel paves the way for the Militarization of the Higher Education system in the country.
The letter written by the Secretary to the GMOA to the Prime Minister is self-explanatory and annexed.
