Government intervenes to curb “Fake News”

Plans are underway to curb fake news on the internet and false information disseminated via the internet that would pose a serious threat, to democratic institutions. The government was of the view that it could cause divisions in society.
In order to provide access to accurate information, the government has decided to introduce a new law to regulate the dissemination of information. Accordingly, the Legal Draftsman directed to draft a new law to curb misinformation.
