A protest march by teachers has sparked off heavy traffic congestion in the Fort and the adjoining areas.

The Ceylon Teachers Union planned a protest march, to begin from the Colombo Fort railway station, and proceed towards the Presidential Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Teachers decision to refrain from “Online” teaching continued for the 11th day despite Education Minister G.L Peiris promising to present a Cabinet Paper to resolve the issues concerning salary anomalies.

A Teachers Union spokesman said the discussion they held with the Minister ended in a deadlock and had no faith in the Minister’s claim to resolve the matter through a Cabinet decision.
