Lanka passport rises to 94th place in global ranking

Sri Lanka’s passport has improved its standing in the latest Henley Passport Index, moving up to 94th place in the 2026 global rankings.

The country was ranked 96th in both 2025 and 2024. Sri Lanka’s passport was placed 107th in 2021, 102nd in 2022 and 100th in 2023.

The Henley Passport Index ranks passports worldwide based on the number of countries and territories their holders can access without obtaining a visa in advance.

Singapore retained the top position in the 2026 rankings, while Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates shared second place.

Afghanistan was ranked at the bottom of the index, recording the weakest passport ranking in the latest report.
