At least 14 people were killed and more than forty

injured when a Colombo private bus from Lunugalawent down a precipice at Passaara in the Badulladistrict.

The accident occurred around 7 15 in the morning near the 13th mile post of the Monaragala Badulla trunk road. Some of the injured were rushed to the BadullaGeneral Hospital for further treatment. The bus went down the precipice as it made way for an oncoming vehicle, but Police said it could be due to gross negligence of the driver. However, it is not known whether the driver has survived
