Mannar to open Adam’s Bridge sandbanks to tourists

The Northern Province Tourism Bureau has decided to facilitate tourist visits to eight sandbanks near Adam’s Bridge in Mannar.

The initiative is aimed at developing tourism in the Northern Province, and trial runs using several special boats were recently carried out.

Tourists travelling from Adam’s Bridge towards the third sandbank will be able to view eight sandbanks along the route.

The project is being implemented under the direction of Dr Jaganathan Vivekanandan, Chairman of the Northern Province Tourism Bureau.

A timetable and fee structure for visits to the Mannar sandbanks are expected to be announced next week, with arrangements being made to accommodate both local and foreign tourists.
