A maximum of 20,000 PCR tests are done daily, in government laboratories.

The Ministry of Health has put forward a Cabinet paper for the immediate purchase of PCR testing kits and other accessories required with the increase of demand for PCR tests. This is owing to the rampant spread of the third wave of the Covid 19 pandemic. The Ministry has said in a Cabinet paper that PCR tests in government laboratories has increased to around 20,000 per day and to cope with the new situation more PCR are testing kits a   re required.
