The Health Ministry has approved the mix and match strategy in its vaccination policy.

Accordingly, US-produced Pfizer and ModernaCOVID-19 vaccines are likely to be used as the second dose for those who received the AstraZeneca vaccine as the first dose.

Ministry sources said the new move, approved by the Advisory Committee on Communicable diseases.

However, there is no evidence in Sri Lanka whether the Mix and Match policy would work without causing any apprehensions among the recipients and the medical community.

Sri Lanka is likely to receive Moderna and Pfizer vaccines within the next few weeks, the source added.
