Moratuwa Mayor arrested

Moratuwa Mayor Saman Lal Fernando has been arrested by the Mt.Lavinia Police, for allegedly obstructing the duties of the Moratuwa Medical Health officer.
When the MOH office made arrangements to administer the Sinopharm Vaccine, the Mayor intervened and told the Health Staff to prioritise the people to whom he had issued tokens. The MOH refused and said that she would perform her duties according to the laid down procedure and administer the vaccine on a first come first serve basis. In the ensuing verbal duel, the MOH said she would be compelled to complain against the Mayor.
The Mayor later surrendered to the Police, who subsequently arrested him.
