Police have arrested 9,105 children for drug-related offences since 30 October 2025, Police Spokesman Assistant Superintendent F.U. Wootler said.

Speaking at a media briefing on the “Rata Ekata” national operation, Wootler said those arrested included 8,931 boys and 173 girls.

Police also said 175 people died by suicide in 2025 in incidents linked to drug addiction. Of them, 172 were men and three were women.

A further 11 drug-related deaths have been reported so far this year, Wootler said.

Police said raids conducted from 30 October 2025 until earlier this week had resulted in the seizure of 2,277.524 kilograms of heroin, 3,172.052 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 293.872 kilograms of cocaine and 9,512.310 kilograms of cannabis.

Authorities have intensified anti-drug operations under the national campaign launched last year.
