PM tells Parlaiment
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday told Parliament that burial rituals according to the Islamic faith can be allowed for Muslim Nationals who succumb to Covid 19
.The Prime Minister was answering a question raised by SJB Parliamentarian S.M Marrikar.
Though Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena attempted to obstruct the MP the Prime minister seized the opportunity to answer the question. The Muslim were up in arms against the government's earlier decision that all victims who succumb to Covid 19 be cremated. The matter was consequently taken up by the UNRC too.
Marrikar’s question was based on the assertion of Stata minister that water does not transmit the virus.
