Mysterious rise in water levels reported in Jaffna wells

Residents of Araly in Jaffna have expressed concern after water levels in several wells unexpectedly began rising over the past three days despite prevailing dry conditions.
Residents said the wells would normally contain little or no water during this time of year, but five wells in the area have recently filled rapidly.
They also reported that the water in the affected wells was unusually warm.
At a well located on the premises of the Ayyanar Kovil, the water level has risen close to ground level.
Following reports from residents, a team from the Department of Geography at the University of Jaffna visited the area to inspect the wells.
No official explanation has yet been given for the sudden rise in water levels or the reported increase in water temperature.
