Navy seizes suspected narcotics haul off northern coast

The Sri Lanka Navy, on Sunday, seized a quantity of suspected narcotics during an operation off the northern coast.

The seizure was made during a special operation carried out early Sunday in the Kusumanthurai coastal area of Mathagal, Jaffna.

One suspect was arrested, while a vessel believed to have been used for drug trafficking was also taken into Navy custody.

The operation was conducted by personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command and the Sri Lanka Naval Ship Agbo establishment.

The Navy said investigations were under way to determine the nature and quantity of the drugs seized.
