New guidelines to prevent overcrowding of remand prisons

The authorities are now contemplating new regulations to avert overcrowding of prisons and remand prisons due to the fast-spreading Covid 19 pandemic.

The Attorney General has devised a new set of guidelines to release suspects on bail and will shortly make the Police aware of the new recommendations that are essential because of the increasing incidence of the Coronavirus.

Ministry of Justice and the Prison Authorities had taken the initiative in this respect.
