Nine high profile people in the dock for violating quarantine laws
June 10, 2021

Nine people, arrested for partying at the rooftop terrace, poolside of a luxury apartment complex in Colpetty, violating quarantine regulations, have been released on personal bail. The suspects were released on Rs One million bail by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage today.
There were three foreigners among the nine taken into custody by the Colpetty Police.
Counsel Jeewantha Jayasinghe while requesting them to be released on bail, told the court that they hold responsible positions. He also told the court that the roof-top terrace is not a public place.
Officer-In-Charge of the Colpeety Police, however, said it was disappointing to note that people holding high positions pay scant regard to the quarantine regulations and stressed that the law needs to be applied equally to everybody.
