No Black fungus in Sri Lanka

The government yesterday denied claims that the ‘black fungus’ known as Mucormycosis was detected in Sri Lanka.
Health Ministry sources said that claims that a person who tested positive for the coronavirus in Ampara had contracted black fungus, was fake news.
“There were reports that the person in Amparawho tested positive for Covid had a fungus but it was not black fungus. The sources said. The person in question is a TB patient who had not taken proper medication and later found to be infected with Covid -19. Though he had a fungus it was not identified as the black fungus rampant in India.” Medical sources said
