Pair of leopards spotted on Medawachchiya-Mannar road

Motorists travelling along the Medawachchiya-Mannar main road have expressed concern after a pair of leopards was repeatedly seen on the road near the Madu Junction area at night.
Several drivers have reported seeing the animals moving along the road and interacting with each other between midnight and 3 a.m.
Photographs and video footage of the pair have also been received by wildlife officers in the Madu area of Mannar, who have begun monitoring their movements.
Officials believe the two leopards are fully grown and around four years old.
Wildlife officers are also examining whether the animals may have moved into the Madu area from Wilpattu in search of water.
Drivers have been advised not to approach the leopards to take photographs or videos and not to feed them.
