Parliament gives its assent to the CBSL Bill.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka Bill was passed with amendments this afternoon in Parliament by a majority of 42 votes.

A majority of ruling party parliamentarians voted in favour of the bill. The SJB and the JVP voted against the Bill.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka Bill is aimed at making the Central Bank an independent and accountable entity devoid of political interference.
