The Peoples Movement for the Protection of Schools protesting outside the Education ministry at Isurupaya, Battaramulla this morning. Parents, teachers and civil society have been continuing with their protest to lobby the government to lower the threshold to ensure parity in admissions to Grade 6 in popular schools.  The Grade 5 scholarship exam is an opportunity for students, especially in rural areas, to gain admission to mainstream schools in Colombo and other big cities.
