The new constitution must be framed, without delay. It should also promote investment and enable the economy to recover while governance at all levels would be more democratic, transparent, accountable and free from corruption.

Power being concentrated in one place has been the main reason for the escalation of corruption in the country and the government apparatus, states Tamil National Alliance Leader R Samapanthan in a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Though the Tamil National Alliance was to meet with the President on the 16th instant, it never came about.

The letter written by Mr Sampanthan of the need for a new constitution and constitution-making is self-explanatory.
