The Price Committee approves the reduction of MOP Fertilizer price by Rs. 4500

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera today said that the Price Committee has approved reducing the price of MOP Fertilizer (Muriate of Potash) by Rs 4500  this Yala season. In the last Maha season, the two government-owned fertilizer companies sold a bag of 50 kg MOP fertilizer at  Rs 19,500 each. Also, the private sector sold a bag of MOP fertilizer at Rs 22,500  each. Amaraweera submitted the proposal to reduce the MOP fertilizer price to Rs 15,000 this Yala season. Minister said that the government's aim is to reduce the cost of agricultural production. (IR)
