The wife of Frontline Socialist Party Propaganda Secretary Duminda Nagamuwatoday filed a Habeas Corpus application in the Court of Appeal seeking an interim order directing authorities to produce the DumindaNagamuwa before the Court, forthwith.

The petitioner Naidelage Dulani Priyangika, the wife of Duminda Nagamuwa, filed this petition naming IGP Chandana Wickremaratne, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police DeshabanduThennakoon, Officer-In-Charge of Slave Island Police Station, Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena and several others as respondents.

Duminda Nagamuwa and seven others were arrested by the police on the 7th of July when they staged a peaceful protest at the State Engineering Corporation against the interdictions of two employees on political grounds.

The petitioner said Duminda Nagamuwa and others were walking away from the court premises after the  Fort Magistrate released them on bail.

A group of police officers blocked their movements and informed them that they are being referred to a  compulsory quarantine centre.

The petitioner stated that no document was given or shown to the Corpus or no reasons adduced for such obstruction.

The petitioner said according to information, Duminda Nagamuwa is currently detained in the Pallekele Army camp.
