A Protest against the construction of a walkway on the bund of the Parakrama Samudra in Polonnaruwa was staged today by the clergy of the area
The bulldozing of the bund of this historic tank, currently being carried out by the local authorities to make way for the walkway will lead to flooding in the area. It will inundate paddy lands and displace many families who have lived in the area for years.
