Raids launched against substandard motorcycle helmet manufacturers and sellers

The National Council for Road Safety has launched raids to identify manufacturers and sellers of substandard motorcycle helmets that do not carry Sri Lanka Standards certification.
The raids are being conducted jointly with the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and the Consumer Affairs Authority.
Council Chairman Manjula Kularatne said authorities would take strict legal action against those found manufacturing or selling helmets that failed to meet required safety standards.
He warned that wearing a substandard helmet was as dangerous as riding without one and urged motorcyclists to use certified helmets carrying the SLS mark.
