Rice prices relaxed
September 28, 2021

Leading rice mill owners have fixed rice prices after the government moved to withdraw the gazette prescribing price controls.
The rice millers threatened to withdraw from the trade if the government put pressure on them by introducing a cap on the rice prices.
Accordingly, the wholesale price of a kilo of Nadu rice will be Rs.110, a kilo of Samba rice will be Rs. 140 and a kilo of Keeri Samba rice will be Rs.165.
The rice millers pledged not to create a shortage in the supplies of rice in the market. They said in comparison to wholesale prices, only Rs. 5 per kilo will be added to retail prices.
