Shiranthi Rajapaksa remanded until 13 October

Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been remanded until 13 October after being produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Rajapaksa had been arrested earlier in the day by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in connection with an investigation into the Siriliya Saviya account.
Additional Magistrate Darshima Premaratne also ordered prison officials to arrange for Rajapaksa to receive medical treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
Meanwhile, former National Savings Bank Chairman Pradeep Kariyawasam, who was also arrested and produced before court in connection with the same case, was released on bail.
