A squadron Leader attached to the Sri Lanka Air Force has died and an airman (sergeant) was injured in a tragic accident during a sky diving training session at SLAF Parachute Training School in Ampara this morning.

The exercises took place about 3500 feet above however the parachute of the officer and the airman had collided at the landing.

Sources said it could have happened due to the sudden change of the direction of the wind gushing through the area.

The deceased officer has been identified as Squadron Leader Sanjeewa Balasuriya (34).
