Sri Lanka dengue cases surpass 100,000 in 2026

The number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka this year has surpassed 100,000, Acting Deputy Provincial Director of Health Services for the Western Province, Dr Navinda Soysa, said on Monday.

Soysa said that although the number of cases reported each day had declined compared with previous months, the threat posed by dengue had not completely subsided.

Seven provinces remain at high risk for dengue, he said.

Soysa urged the public to continue following health guidelines and to take preventive measures to reduce mosquito breeding and the spread of the disease.
