Sri Lanka launches paperless Customs declaration system

Sri Lanka Customs has introduced a paperless Customs declaration system from Thursday, ending the acceptance of declarations submitted under the previous system.
Customs Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa said all importers and declarants are now required to submit Customs declarations and other relevant documents with a valid digital signature.
The new system is being introduced as part of the government’s economic reform programme and wider efforts to modernise public services through digitalisation.
Sri Lanka Customs said the paperless system is expected to make the clearance process more efficient, faster and more transparent.
