Sri Lanka’s exports surpass US$9 billion in first half of 2026

Sri Lanka’s total export earnings exceeded US$9 billion in the first half of 2026, rising 8 per cent year on year, according to data released by the Export Development Board (EDB) on Wednesday.

Combined merchandise and services exports reached an estimated US$9.01 billion between January and June, the EDB said.

Services exports increased by 4.49 per cent year on year to an estimated US$1.94 billion during the six-month period.

Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports reached US$1.31 billion in June, up 15.09 per cent from the same month last year, according to provisional Customs data and estimated export values for gems and jewellery and petroleum products.

Services exports generated an estimated US$344.52 million in June, an increase of 3.75 per cent year on year.

Total merchandise and services exports reached an estimated US$1.66 billion in June, recording year-on-year growth of 12.53 per cent, the EDB said.
