The struggle for Justice will continue without a break: Archbishop of Colombo
July 14, 2021
The Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, addressing the media, vowed to continue with an unrelenting struggle for justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attack in 2019.
. The Archbishop emphasized that the government must refrain from trying to sweep the matter under the carpet.
Certain ambiguities need proper resolution through proper investigations, he said.
Questions arise when there is interference in the Police, the Criminal Investigation Department and the Legal system concerning investigations into the matter.
The Archbishop believes that the investigations should centre on the report of the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the attack and the remarks made by certain Parliamentarians.
“Filing cases will not help without transparently investigating into the matter, and if the government denies this to the people, they will be deceiving themselves but no one else,” the Archbishop said.
The people have a right to know of the grand conspiracy behind the Easter Sunday attack, as clearly mentioned by the former Attorney General of Sri Lanka.
The struggle will continue with no pause.
