Students clash with Police in the Fort area.

A tense situation prevailed in the vicinity of the Fort Railway station when a group of University students clashed with the Police. The students belonging to the Inter-University Students Federation were protesting against the establishment of the Kotalawela private university. A clash triggered when the Police attempted to take into custody a banner displayed by the students. The students were protesting at a time when public gatherings are banned owing to the worsening pandemic situation.
