September 14, 2021

The Supreme Court is to commence Digital Hearings from the 24th of September 2021, the Supreme Court announced yesterday.
According to the new arrangement all matters mentioned during the week will be taken up electronically (via zoom) on every Friday commencing from 24th of September 2021.
In a special notice, Supreme Court registrar Pradeep Mahamuthugala announced that these cases will be taken up on a staggered basis as per the case list published. Therefore, Attorneys at Law are requested to log in and be online, at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled time. The link, Meeting ID and Passcode for the digital hearings will be published along with the case list.
Parties seeking to have a Digital Hearing in terms of the Supreme Court (Digital Hearing) Rules, on days the Court will have urgent matters or normal sittings, should do so by filing a motion to that effect through the electronic mail, addressed to the Registrar of the Supreme Court to digitalhearing@supremecourt.lk. Such electronic mail should be sent 10 days prior to the date the matter is already scheduled. The number of the Application or Appeal should be included in the ‘subject line’ of the email, the Supreme Court registrar announced.
