A tense situation has arisen after the STF and officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation tried to stop the local community from working on an illegal komarika (Aloe Vera) plantation inside the Wilpattu National Park which is protected under the country’s Flora and Fauna Ordnance. A private individual is suspected of employing the villagers to cultivate the komarika plantation.
