Thileepan statue produced before Jaffna court
Share this story

Police produced the removed statue of Thileepan before the Jaffna court on 5 October as an exhibit in the case against four people accused over its installation in the Nallur area.
The statue was transported from Nallur Police Station in a police jeep, completely wrapped in white cloth, and brought to the court premises under tight security.
It was then placed in court custody to be produced in connection with the case.
Police had previously attempted to hand over the statue to the court, but the Jaffna court had refused to accept it at the time because no case had been filed and no details of suspects had been presented.
Police later identified four suspects allegedly connected to the installation of the statue and filed a case against them.
Following the filing of the case, the Jaffna court accepted the statue into its custody.
