Three more suspects, including two Pakistani nationals, have been arrested on Monday in connection with the seizure of nearly 463 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice”, from two containers at Colombo Port.

Police said officers from the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau made the arrests as investigations into the consignment continued.

The drugs are estimated to be worth more than Rs. 8 billion.

The raid was carried out jointly by the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau following information received by police.

Two suspicious containers were opened with the assistance of Sri Lanka Customs, and officers found the suspected drugs concealed inside towels.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashoka Dharmasena said the quantity weighed so far was approximately 463 kilograms.

A businessman from Dematagoda was also arrested in connection with the case.

Police are investigating who imported the consignment and seeking to identify others linked to the alleged trafficking operation.
