The President today appointed former parliamentarian Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, former Vavuniya Government Agent PSM Charles, and Ceylon Workers Congress Leader Senthil Thondaman as governors of the North Western, Northern, and Eastern provinces, respectively.

They took oaths before the President at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.

Three provincial governors were removed from their positions by President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday.
Meanwhile, Navin Dissanayake is likely to be appointed as the Governor of Sabaragamuwa shortly after Tikiri Kobbekaduwa quits the post.
Mr Kobbekaduwa is presently overseas.
