Twenty Five Hospitals to get High Dependency Units (HDU’s)

At least twenty five provincial hospitals will be getting High Dependency Units (HDU’s) equipped with wall Oxygen devices to treat critically ill Covid patients. The government will also set up 15 oxygen generator machines in 15 identified remote hospitals to ensure the necessary medical oxygen supply for the hospitals. Providing 2500 mobile medical oxygen generators for the 25 districts with 100 for each is yet another proposal approved by the Cabinet. This will reduce the need for oxygen supply through cylinders in the hospitals. The Cabinet has also approved the import of 120,000 Liters of liquid oxygen monthly to meet the upsurging medical oxygen demand and maintain an adequate secure stock in the island.
