The body of a teenage girl has been recovered following an earth slip in the Elle Devalaya area in Rathnapura.
A spokesman from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said that search operations are underway to find another person who was also reported missing after the earth slip. The mother of the deceased girl who was also injured in the incident has been hospitalized.
The Disaster Management Centre said that a landslide warning has been issued to the Rathnapura, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Kaluthara Districts due to the heavy rains experienced in those areas.
